So I never came here but

What your tips on mediating

Wait
2:28 AM
Meditating
Avatar
Is it weird that I think meditation is the only way to help make my Tulp at this point? I bet I'm not even meditating properly, but still
Avatar
Nope there r other ways but if that's what works best for u then go ahead
Avatar
Hmmm, fair enough. I'm still curious if I'm even doing it right though, since all I do is put on some calming loop and just stay still and try not to think.

I'm sure there are plenty of guides available for proper meditation, narration seems to be one of the key parts of developing your tulpa so that would probably be something to consider doing
Avatar
I don't know what narration is.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:42 PM
talking to your tulpa about pretty much anything
Avatar
Hmm, well that's the weird thing here. She's not vocal yet, and I don't know if she's actually in there.
5:44 PM
Well, I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if she were in there, but still.
Avatar
☠ C𝖆𝖗𝖈𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖌𝖊𝖓 ☠ 1/1/2019 5:44 PM
Speak to her like she is there
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:44 PM
mine's not vocal either, but i talk to her almost for the entire day
Avatar
I mean, that does sound like a good idea. And now that I think about it I'm not sure if she's vocal or not. I'm not trying to rush it though.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:46 PM
it's actually quite relaxing, it's probably the only reason i'm still sane something completely off topic: your name wouldn't be Ray by any chance?
Avatar
Ah, you picked up on that. It's not though.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:47 PM
oh
5:47 PM
then what's the RAY for?
Avatar
Well, you know how light comes in, well, rays? (edited)
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:47 PM
oh ok
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:48 PM
makes sense
Avatar
Still, just gonna keep doin what I'm doin. Seems like it's working anyway.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:49 PM
i'm not sure if it's working, but i'm staying optimistic
Avatar
Fair enough
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:51 PM
but, something tells me it might not be working, cause I don't do any active forcing, instead I passive force for as much as I possibly can
Avatar
I'm not forcing at all, sooooo
5:51 PM
And I've not forced as well.
5:51 PM
Not even exactly sure what forcing is.

Trying to create a tulpa with only the knowledge of what a tulpa is will only be a detriment to yourself
5:53 PM
And it will take much longer
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:53 PM
if you don't put in effort, you could make very slow progress, if any at all
Avatar
Well, I've already been doing stuff for 8 months.
5:54 PM
Not that long considering what I wanna get out of it.
Avatar
☠ C𝖆𝖗𝖈𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖌𝖊𝖓 ☠ 1/1/2019 5:54 PM

Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:54 PM
what kind of stuff?
Avatar
☠ C𝖆𝖗𝖈𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖌𝖊𝖓 ☠ 1/1/2019 5:54 PM
That's kind of also what I was wondering
Avatar
Well, I want a genuine person out of it. Not something that I can influence, if that makes sense.
Avatar
☠ C𝖆𝖗𝖈𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖌𝖊𝖓 ☠ 1/1/2019 5:55 PM
That is what a tulpa is by definition. (edited)
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:56 PM
but that's what a tulpa is, the only real difference between them and a real person, is that you're the only one that can see them
Avatar
☠ C𝖆𝖗𝖈𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖌𝖊𝖓 ☠ 1/1/2019 5:56 PM
^this
5:57 PM
I'm pretty sure what I'm doing is different from making a Tulpa though, since I myself am not putting much effort into the process.

somnambulist 1/1/2019 5:58 PM
you don't hang out?
Avatar
Mmm no.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 5:58 PM
yeah, then your probably doing absolutely nothing
Avatar
somnambulist 1/1/2019 5:59 PM
why don't you hang out?
Avatar
'Cause I don't think that'll help tbh.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 6:00 PM
but you haven't exactly answered my question, what do you do?
Avatar
Well, other than some work on the body and meditation, I've not consciously done much.
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 6:02 PM
so you have worked on their form, that's something, but I doubt they're even close to being sentient meditation works, but only as something to help you, it doesn't do anything by itself
Avatar
Well I'm pretty sure you're wrong on the "not even close to sentient" bit, gonna be honest.
6:04 PM
And I think meditation does help for what I'm trying to achieve, which is something very hands-off.
Avatar
somnambulist 1/1/2019 6:04 PM
are they interacting with you? how do you know?
Avatar
Nuclear Werewoof 1/1/2019 6:04 PM
it's just my opinion based off what i've read, I could be completely wrong (edited)
Avatar
I hate to distract too much from the conversation you all are having, but would you all mind moving over to the beginners channel with this?
Avatar
Well, I think I've had one interaction, but I can't be certain, cause I wasn't in the right mind when it happened.
6:05 PM
Alright, yeah, lets
Avatar
Here might be a question for this channel. What would you all say might be the difference between meditating and just sitting in a room and letting your thoughts go wild?
Avatar
bduddy #Diana# 1/17/2019 11:44 PM
I think many people would consider the latter a form of meditation
11:44 PM
so nothing
Avatar
That must mean you meditate in the shower every time you enter it.

@Reguile Depends on what you mean by meditation. There's two that I consider, that I normally do; focused (mindful?) meditation and mindfulness meditation.
2:29 AM
With mindfulness, it's essentially thinking on nothing but everything at the same time. Like, easiest way to do it is to observe (but don't control) your breathing; just doing that indefinitely. When you notice your thoughts going somewhere, you observe it as an object of consciousness (sometimes I just give it a category or a color) without thinking on it too much more, then gently guide my concentration / focus back to my breathing.
2:30 AM
During mindfulness, you basically are observing - the way you feel on the chair, the way the air feels on your skin, etc., but without actually thinking on anything too much. You'll find your mind wondering all the time (for me it can be under a minute) but the key is, once you realize it's wondered, you just let it go and go back to mindfulness.
2:31 AM
Focused meditation is more akin to more what we do when tulpaforcing. You're meditating on something with a specific goal in mind. You also have things like when you're meditating to clear your mind (I do this before tulpaforcing),
Avatar
That's definitely more of the sort of thing I tend to think of when I think of meditation
Avatar
There's a very good article on it from Sam Harris that goes into it: https://samharris.org/how-to-meditate/ -- when I was taking my cogneuro classes, I found some neat studies about this. Meditation even seems to grow new braincells and stuff.
There are many forms of introspection and mental training that go by the name of “meditation,” and I have studied several over the years. As I occasionally speak about the benefits of these practices, people often write to ask which I recommend. Given my primary audience...
2:33 AM
As I was mentioning in the #lounge earlier, I actually started incorporating mindfulness into tulpaforcing. Instead of guiding my concentration back to breathing when I start to lose focus, I instead guide it back to Chess or Mel so we can go back to wonderland stuff.
